THE BIRTH OF THE ST.KITTS LABOUR MOVEMENT

This book traces the history of the forty difficult and troubled years in the island of St Kitts which fit so conveniently into period between the “Portuguese Riots” of 1896 and the Buckley’s “Riots” of 1935. The period witnessed the birth of St Kitts Labour Movement.

Several Features emerges during the forty years which would shape and dominate the history of the island for several decades thereafter. Hence, the period has been characterized as the “Defining Decades.”
