Selena’s Ex husband has left her in a strange land with a baby and two young sisters to care for. It’s hard for spanish- speaking immigrants to get work, and Selena earns little from her crochet dolls and doilies she makes and sell. The middle sister, Celia, works in a hotel at a job she hates, but it pays the rent plus puts food on the table. Pamela is still in School. The Three came from Dominican Republic in hopes for better living in Antigua. But Antiguans are hostile to immigrants community in their midst, seeing the newcomers as intruders come to steal away their jobs and their menfolk. Only Pamela settles easily into the new life.

And it is Pamela who is instrumental in bringing Michael, her cricket coach, into Selena’s drab world. For Michael, it is love at first sight. But Selena has been to deeply hurt by misplaced love in the past, and Michael must woo her with patience and understanding
